Allison and I have started up an old bad habit. A few weeks ago, it started getting cold during the night. Allison doesn’t like to sleep with blankets on her legs, so she would wake up during the night freezing cold.
The logical solution is to put her in bed with us, right? We are nice and toasty. We can snuggle with her until the blood starts flowing to her tiny toes. Really, it just means I am too lazy to get out of bed and lay her back in her bed. I mean it. Her bed is at the foot of our bed, so all I really have to do is lean over ours, lay her back in her’s, then stay awake a little bit while she goes back to sleep.
Now she likes to sleep with us all night. Also my fault. I have been so tired at night that I just carry her to bed with me, give her some kisses, tell her night-night, and we both fall right to sleep. The problem is that Allison is a bed hog. She likes to have her head snuggled with one of us, and her feet touching the other person. We make a Capital A (for Allison?) in bed.
The solution will come in 3 weeks. On Memorial day weekend (also the last weekend of school)or close to it, Allison is going to move into Zoey’s room. A big step, but for the most part, she sleeps through the night now. Even if she does wake up, Zoey won’t have school the next day. I hope it goes well.
