3rd grade

Nathan is going to be in 3rd grade. I’m not sure why, but this feels like an important grade. Maybe because on my second day of 3rd grade we had a big life change, moving from one city to another. A smaller town where you could ride your bike or walk anywhere you wanted to go. The park was 2 blocks away and the library was not much farther. It’s when my memory begins to become one long cohesive track, instead of skips and jumps. It’s when I started to become more aware of things that were happening in life outside of my house. I guess, it’s when I started to grow up just a little.

For some reason Nathan being in the 3rd grade makes me feel emotions that are hard to put into words. I am not ready for him to start growing up even more. In my mind, he is still the happy go lucky, shy, 4 year old who didn’t care if his mom wanted to hug and kiss him.
