Holes

Have you said something yet to someone else (besides your kids) that just made you feel like an old person? I have told some of the girls at work that their jeans weren’t professional for work. I cringed at myself as the words were coming out of my mouth. In the back of my mind crying, “When did I become that person? That old lady that tells people their clothing is inappropriate????”

I remember when you had to work hard to get holes in your jeans. How I used to want holes in them enough that I would take scissors to them and carefully snip at a few places. Making holes that still had threads in them. Holes that were placed in just the right spots. It was alright then. The jeans I mutilated were already getting old, and they were pretty cheap.

Now, you can buy them with our without holes. I also spend much more on my clothes today than I did 15 years ago. Pick a pair that is flawless. No holes anywhere. They fit so well. Flattering and comfortable at the very same time. It is love. These jeans are the favorite. Wear them at least once a week.

6 months go by and you see it, the wearing at the knee. You think to yourself, “We’ll see how long they last”. Ok, first you think, “Crap, if I had wanted the holes, I would have paid for the holes.”. Then you think, “We’ll see how long they last.”

3 washes later, big holey knee.
