When we first moved into this house the landscaping had already been done. The only problem was I had no idea what was in the flower beds. The first year, I didn’t pull anything unless I was absolutely positive it was a weed. Hardly any flowers grew in the front beds.
Last year I pulled everything and decided to start from scratch. I didn’t plant much, mostly some daisies, mums, and pansies. This year I have just been weeding around what I planted last year. Magically, I have this! I did not plant them and they did not bloom in the two previous years.

Allison saw the picture and said, “Disgusting!” Then she realized it was a flower.
Nathan and Zoey may be in for a rough summer. Don’t get me wrong, we have plenty of fun things lined up for them to do. We have decided though, that this summer they can start doing chores. We even went out and bought a dry erase board for the fridge to keep track of who is going to do which thing and on what day.
Wierd thing is since it’s new to them and they will be making some money, they are super excited about the idea. We’ll see how long that lasts once they actually start having to do things.
Nathan was starting the second half of kindergarten when we first moved here. One day he came home and asked, “Mom, is it double-you or double-yah?”
The next year at the Poutry Festival all of the kindergartners (Zoey’s turn) dressed as chickens, got on stage and sang a song about how much they liked chicken. Each time they said the I, it came out as ‘Ah’. Picture Scarlet from ‘Gone With the Wind’, “Ah do de-clare!”
Last night, Zoey was spending the night with a sister and the older brother stayed with Nathan. The brother (Devon) and sister have a 1 year old brother who, usually when we see him at sporting events, is in a stroller. He was excited to see Allison. When he wasn’t motioning for her to come play with him and running to his toys, he was grabbing her by her hair to give her kisses. On the way back to our house she said, “Mom*, when we get home, I’m telling Devon that his baby brother drooled on me.” Not in a tattle tale voice, but in an amused ‘that goofy kid’ kind of way.
When we got home, she told Devon, “Your brother pulled my hair.”
Devon, “Yeah, that sounds about right. He’s always doing that.”
Then Allie suprised us all with, “I am going to be his girlfriend and he is going to be my boyfriend.” Nathan and Devon looked at eachother and cracked up laughing.
*That she calls me Mom instead of mommy or momma really seems to amuse people. I don’t think it’s the word but how she says it, since she is only 2 but speaks like a much older kid. Either like she is a teenager and I just did something to embarrass her in front of friends, “Mo-om”, or short and crisp to get my attention, “Mom!”.
We told Allison we were going to the pharmacy.
“Oh, we’re going to the farm-a-see. What are we going to see at the farm? Can I pet the baby lamb?”
