Bug spray

I noticed a strong bug spray smell coming from the kids bathroom. I just thought Greg had seen a wasp and taken drastic measures to get rid of it. Not really thinking about it, I gathered up the laundry and threw it into the washer. Along with these items, I added my work shirts and jeans.

When I asked Greg if he noticed the smell he told me that he had, but thought I had gone crazy with the Raid. This can’t bode well. There isn’t any reason why the bathroom should smell like we were trying to kill an army of wasps. The only conceivable explanation is some water got into the roach trap we have behind the toilet when the girls were splashing about and making merry in the bathtub.

When I opened the washer to move the clothes over I was overpowered by the smell. I went quickly to check out the kids bathroom and, sure enough, it smells nice and clean. Whatever it was is in the laundry. I’m going on the 3rd wash now (this time with the extra heavy setting and hot water all around). Does anyone know how to get a really strong bug spray smell out of clothes that can’t be bleached?

Books

I’m starting up a new section of the blog. I’ve been thinking about it since I first started this site and just never got around to actually incorporating it.

I’m going to start keeping track of the books I’ve read and maybe give a review here and there. I’m hoping it will help to keep me from checking out/buying books that I’ve already read (unless of course they are worth a re-read).

For a while until I get into the swing of book reviews, I’m going to go by this format. This means the first few reviews given are more than likey going to be extremely boring. Of course, after the newness has worn off, you’ll be lucky to just get the book title listed.

If you have any good book suggestions, feel free to send them my way.

Some things to note:
My children are string beans. While it looks like they are malnourished, they get at least 3 squares a day. I like to joke with Zoey when she sits on my lap that her bones are leaving bruises.

Nathan is excited and terrified at the same time to light the firecrackers. With his lighting technique it’s surprising that he actually lit any. He would stay as far away as he could, stretch his arm out and quickly tap the punk to the fuse of the jumping jack.

Water logged

Whenever Allison does something that really makes her feel good she will tilt her head back and give a big open mouthed smile, almost as if to say, “Ah, this is fabulous”. Most of the time it happens when she is eating something delicious. This summer she has a newfound love though. Everytime she comes out of the water she looks up to the sky, smacks a big smile on her lips and says, “Ah!”.

Does that make me crazy?

So, I was on the fence about whether or not I liked Gnarls Barkley. Then I heard the remake of “Gone Daddy Gone”*. Pushed me over to the like side of the fence. How can you not like someone who covers the Violent Femmes?

* 3rd song listed on their player.

Project Runway

In honor of the new season of Project Runway, I went a little retro with the banner.
