My brother’s wedding was this weekend in Norman. It was beautiful and I will write all about it in a later post. On Saturday, a few hours before the wedding his wife-to-be asked if we would try and find a veil because she wasn’t happy with the way the one she made turned out. We looked in a phone book and decided we would go to each of the bridal shops listed to try and find the perfect one.
We had to call to get directions to the first because our phone book was 2 years old and they had changed locations. When we got there you could tell right away it wasn’t a bridal shop, more like a prom dress/ evening gown type of place. Why didn’t we think to ask if they sold bridal items when we had them on the phone? Because then the lady would never have gotten to tell us, “Hold on while I ask the guys if we have anything like that.” then turn around and ask, “Kayne, do we have any veils?”
For like a second I didn’t think anything of her calling out “Kayne”. Then my mind flashed, Kayne, Oklahoma, Evening gown shop. I looked up and it really was Kayne from Project Runway. Only one of my favorite tv shows on right now.
They didn’t have any veils. One of the other customers let us know that there were not really any bridal shops in town but maybe Michael’s or Hobby Lobby would have something that would serve since we were limited on time. This is the part where I should have said, “This is a new challenge, you have to make a stunning veil with light blue trim in 10 minutes. Make it work”.
What would you have done? Gone up and talked to him yourself? Asked if he won and was keeping it real by staying in Oklahoma? If it didn’t look like he was busy with teenage girls trying on homecoming dresses I might have overcome my semi-star struckedness (that’s a word, right?). Instead I asked the woman helping us to let him know how much I enjoyed the show.

oh my.
OMG! how cool! I would like to THINK that I’d talk to him, but you never know until you’re there!
and if he was in the final three woudln’t he still be in that interim time when they go home and make up their collection? isn’t the final runway show live? meaning, there isn’t a winner yet? have i misunderstood this all this time?
he is one of the ones i’m totally rooting for being in the final 3!
oh i’m so jealous of you anna!
Here’s what I found about it.
“This year, New York Fashion Week sponsored by Olympus, kicks off September 8 through September 15 featuring the world’s top fashion designers unveiling their Spring 2007 collections. Also watch for Bravo TV Project Runway finalists to be making a splash at the proceedings.”
Means he could very well still be in the final 3 and was just getting ready to leave. We don’t get to see who the final 3 are or who the winner is in the episodes for a few more weeks (looks like the first week of October). If we wanted to be big cheaters we could just see who is at Fashion Week.
I love Project Runway also. It’s the show that makes me want to get cable. They showed 2 or 3 episodes of NBC or something this year but then changed it to show something incredibly lame.
That would have been really cool if he did just whip something up for you guys. What a story that would have been.
