Record setting

A couple of weeks ago, Greg went fishing with a new buddy who has a boat. It wasn’t just any kind of fishing, but night fishing. Imagine my frustration when Greg woke me up after they returned around 2 am. Then did a perfect imitation of the kids when they feel like you need to watch every thing they happen to be doing, even if it it is the 30th time to watch.

Instead of, “Are you watching? Did you see that? I’ll do it again. Did you see it that time? Mom, watch this!”, it was more like, “You have to see this. Come on! Grab the camera! Are you coming? Look! Look!”. *

So, imagine my surprise when he took me outside to see this guy. I suppose he was worth being awakened.

This fish weighed about 25lbs and was around 3ft long. Because most people try to catch bass at this lake, Greg’s friend called the park and wildlife people to get them to measure and weigh the sucker. It would have been the largest catfish caught at this particular lake. Unfortunately the fish didn’t survive long enough for the official weigh-in.

*Okay, so really he said, “Sorry to wake you up, but would you mind coming and taking a picture of this fish I caught?”. At 2am though, is there really a difference?

That’s bull

It’s not suprise that we have the occasional wild animal visit our yard. We do live in the country after all. We have seen deer, rabbit, snakes, armadillos, opossum, racoons, and if you listen to our neighbor who swears he has seen one, a bobcat.

On Saturday, we had a visitor I never thought we would ever see in our yard. It was big and black and we weren’t quite sure how close we should get. I did manage to snap a picture of it.

Supposedly this guy is worth between $3-5k. I’m not sure whether he is hanging out by our pond during the day (we really need to get a tractor on the field) or if he is sneaking out after they put the cows away to get some better grass. I kind of think he is sneaking out to the greener pasture. Surely someone would notice him missing by now.

Possibly ghosts

The other night when I walked into the kitchen I noticed this.

“That’s odd”, I thought to myself.

Closing the door, I figured that someone just didn’t get it closed all of the way. Fast forward 15 minutes to dinner cooking time. I opened the door and noticed right away that something wasn’t quite right.

Three round holes mysteriously vanished from the slice of ham.

I asked Allison if she had seen a mouse in the kitchen, because something had been eating little nibbles of the ham. She just laughed and said, “It was me, hehehe. I’m not a mouse, but I needed that ham!”. Most kids would have gone for the yogurt.
