Next week I’ll bring out a couple of really old pictures, but I thought I would start out old photo day with myself because every time I see these two pictures together I laugh out loud. They were taken around December of 1976.
My mother is always telling me how great a child I was (she loves me, I know) and when I think about it, I’m sure she’s right*. I have this feeling that Zoey isn’t that different than I was as a kid. There are a few things though that oppose her statement (ok, more than a few). In this case, I have some photographic evidence.
Here’s the deal. The cute smiling two year old in the picture above, probably just pushed her brother off of that stuffed animal.

*no low self esteem issues here.
Trees are budding, bulbs are sprouting, animals are coming out of hiding, and birds have taken over our trees and yard. The yard which Greg has already had to mow. Spring is here! Time to start planting the garden.

No, these aren’t pictures from the past. Well, actually I guess they are, since I took them Sunday.
The time it takes for your body to heal is a sure sign of age. Not that I am a klutz or anything, but I distinctly remember even just a few years ago that my bumps and bruises would heal in a matter of days. Now, no such luck.
My finger is healing up nicely, although slowly. Nicely because, you know, there is no longer a big gaping wound. Slowly because I can’t make a fist. What if I need to punch someone? I’m totally screwed. The main trouble I have is opening up bags. Picture spaghetti packages, bags of chips, frozen vegetables, anything that you have to pinch with both hands and pull to open.
What if I can’t bend my finger all the way ever again? I know it’s a little silly to be afraid of this, because A) at least I still have my whole finger and B) it’s only been two weeks; but that stupid “what if” guy is talking in the back of my head.
This weekend I worked on Zoey’s quilt (and subsequently Allison’s since they are sharing some material). I have almost the whole top of Zoey’s pieced and just need to do some applique on a few of the squares. I’m trying to decide whether I want to do the applique and quilting by hand or machine. Machine just seems so much faster, but I haven’t used it before for applique . For the quilting, I’m not sure how I will roll it up small enough to fit in the sewing machine.
Do you guys want to see some old photos? See, I think looking at old pictures is pretty cool, but I’m not sure how interesting it is to other people. I’m debating (with myself, scary) starting a weekly thing, like Old Photo Wednesday or something. What do you think?
