Day 152 – Same age (for a few months)

5/31/08 - Day 152

Happy, Happy Birthday!

Day 151 – Day of lasts

5/30/08 - Day 151

A day of lasts for Nathan.

Last day of elementary school (next year he will be a big bad middle schooler) and last day of baseball.

Day 150 – Freshly cut

5/29/08 - Day 150

You can always tell which ones spend time outside by the white untanned lines after haircuts.

Day 149 – A peek out the window

5/28/08 - Day 149

This is the Rose of Sharon bush just outside my bedroom window. These weren’t blooming yet Saturday when we went out of town. Sunday afternoon when we got home, they were the first thing I noticed when I looked outside.

Day 148 – Mocking

5/27/08 - Day 148

My computer is calling me names.

Spitting nails

We have 3 computers in the house. Greg’s, the kids’, and my laptop. I call it mine, because it is. In this house filled with clutter and people, it is the one thing that is completely mine. I am greedy with it. No one else uses it because they have their own computers. It is mine, all mine. Do not put your dirty mitts on my precious keyboard. Whew, got that out of my system.

I have had my laptop for about a year and a half. It worked great for the first nine months, then the wireless network card started flaking out. No problem, it was under warranty. I sent it in and got it back 5 days later. Three months later, it started flaking out again. This time, it was after the warranty period. Instead of paying their support to replace the part, I just bought a new network card. Everything was running smoothly.

This weekend there was a chance that we would be staying the night away for Zoey’s softball tournament. This is what laptops were made for right? We could check hotel rates and book a room. I would still be able to post my picture of the day. We could look up movie times and get early tickets without waiting in line. Instead, when I turned on the computer, it beeped loudly at me. It was saying, “I refuse to display any video on the monitor, Sucker!”

I just knew that sometime this week, I would either bite the bullet and find money in the budget for a new laptop, or I would be back to sharing with the kids. Poor, poor me. It’s not even like we all have to share one computer. I would be sharing with the kids, who aren’t even on the computer after 8pm. Some people don’t even have one computer in their whole house (these people need to move into the 21’st century) and I am sad because we might downsize to a two computer household. Spoiled and materialistic much?

Lucky me, my laptop’s problems fall within an extended warranty. HP is sending me pre-paid packaging and I should be able to watch movies (I mean update my blog) from my bed again next week. I am completely spoiled.

Do you have anything that you feel the same way about?

Day 147 – Unmasked

5/26/08 - Day 147

Not even one minute after everything had been picked up in my bedroom, this suddenly appeared on the floor. I can only assume that Batman lives in my house and had to quickly change out of costume.

Day 146 – Beating the heat

5/25/08 - Day 146

The girls really enjoyed the new sprinkler today after we got home from Zoey’s tournament. The highs this weekend were in the upper 90’s.

Day 145 – Top of the bleacher

5/24/08 - Day 145

Since my laptop decided to die. I didn’t get to post this last night at the hotel.

Three pictures in one post. I couldn’t decide between just one. Last night, I heard softball chants as the background music in my dreams. Zoey’s team has their first tournament this weekend. They won both of their games today. The first was a quick pool game and the second counted. They stomped the other team 15-3 and were done for the rest of the day.

5/24/08 - Day 145 b

We decided to get a hotel room because between driving time (an hour each way) gas prices, and having to wake up super early for the next day’s games, we thought it would be easier. Since we had nothing better to do with our evening we caught the first blockbuster of the summer. Nathan thought it was great.

5/24/08 - Day 145 c

** update for the tournament** Today, the girls they played against were year-round tournament teams. They held their own in the first game but lost 6-2. They immediately played their second game and got smoked. Pitching made all the difference. Yesterday our pitchers were on fire. Today, someone threw a bucket of water on them. It was a great warm up tournament because now our girls know that if they play smart, they can really hang with teams that play together every weekend, all year long.

Day 144 – Tiny green bug

5/23/08 - Day 144

Macro of a Sunbonnet Sue with a tiny green bug. My camera acted funky with this weird shading, but I liked it.
