He’s here!

2 weeks after we all thought he would make his grand debut and 20 days of active labor labor, my newest nephew has finally graced us with his presence. I hope this isn’t a sign of just how stubborn he is going to be in the years ahead.

We all got the “This is really it, we’re heading to the birthing center” message yesterday morning. Around 3 pm (our time) the next call came in that the bouncing baby boy had been born. I don’t have all of the stats, but I know that he weighed over 9 lbs and is at least 21″ long. (Holy 2 month old baby, Batman!) Mom and baby are all doing well.

Welcome to the world little guy! Your arrival has been much anticipated!

They are among us

I don’t know if you have heard of the show True blood (or the books on which they are based). The series is mostly about vampires. They take place in and near the Shreveport area. Last week when we were watching the show they kept mentioning little towns (and some vaguely named places) that sounded familiar. I hope those vampires don’t cross the river, into Texas. We are a little too close if you get my drift. Also, that BBQ place that Tara and her mom ate at in Keachi? In all our trips through on our way to Shreveport, I’ve never seen it. In fact, there isn’t much of anything in Keachi except for this really cool old plantation house that looks haunted. Maybe it is inhabited by vampires. I’ll have to take a picture the next time we drive through, while the sun is still shining.

11/19/08 – Day 324

“The Lorax” by Dr. Seuss. This is quickly becoming one of Allison’s favorite stories. She has asked for it the past few nights as her bed time story. Then she says, “Not you Mom. Dad needs to read it to me”. He does better voices than I do.

11/18/08 – Day 323

It looks like about every 80 days I take a quick snap of LT for the picture of the day. I should teach him to do some cooler things than “sit” and “look hopeful”.

Tryouts

Last week (maybe the week before now) it was time for UIL tryouts. Not really any big deal. The kids are old pros at this now and have been doing it for years. Plus, they are geniuses.

Normally, Zoey does spelling. It’s her thing. This year she decided to switch gears and try out for “Dictionary”. Yep, it sounds as funny to me as it does to you. I guess they have some kind of race to see who can look up words and all of the interesting things (like pronunciation, synonyms, antonyms, and of course the definition) that are associated with those words.

A few days after try-outs, one of the teachers asked Zoey if she would also like to do “Maps, Charts, and Graphs”. When I asked Zoey what her answer was, she said, “I don’t think I had much choice. Right after the teacher asked, she put her hand on my head, moved it up and down and said, ‘Yes, I would like that very much’,”.

Today, Nathan was asked by one of the teachers if he would like to do Art Memory. I think it is where you memorize paintings, the artist, the period, and other important information about them. Before being offered this subject, He decided to go for his favorite subject again (Math if you weren’t sure). When Greg asked Nathan how he did, he mentioned the he might have a good shot at making it. You know, since he answered 20 questions and everyone else only finished about 5.

11/17/08 – Day 322

I am completely serious when I say that I am slightly jealous that I can’t get away with wearing this kind of outfit.

11/16/08 – Day 321

Hardly anything beats bacon and scrambled eggs cooked over an open fire.

11/15/08 – Day 320

Group shot at the camping grounds. Another mom saw us walking around (while I was taking pictures) and offered to take one of all of us. We both had a nice little chat about how whoever has the camera is never in any of the pictures.

11/14/08 – Day 319

This came in the mail for me today from Greg. He does not want to be alone in his support for the Chargers.

11/13/08 – Day 318

Very determined to blow out those candles.
